The Tales of Scheherazade
A few of the tales of Arabian nights have been adapted for stage here. Persian king Shahryar and Scheherazade, a vizier’s daughter, are the narrators who sometimes impersonate the characters from their stories. Cheated by his wife the king kills her and decides to take a wife only for one night. Then she loses her life. Becoming his wife Scheherazade fascinates him by her tales and therefore prolongs her life. After a thousand nights the king admits that her enchanting tales made his anger disappear and eradicated the hatred he felt for the fair sex so he can rejoice again.
The culture, customs and philosophy of Middle East come closer as you watch this performance which takes place in chamber with oriental carpets.
